It got to the point that Sage said "Let's ask Eliza to not get on the potty again." Later Sage physically brought the potty chair to me with the (not-at-all-bad) suggestion, "Let's hide this."Now I know who Bathroom Books are for. They're for moms who have to monitor a potty-trainee in the bathroom for hours a day. Got any favorites?

Have you ever read Uncle John's Bathroom Reader? It's a great series of books, made just for that occasion.
Sage's face when she has the plunger in her hand is priceless.
I agree. Sage's face says it all! Hang in there! --Mom
I can't believe Sage told you to hide the potty! That is so funny. I guess I shouldn't complain that Jacob refuses to use the potty at my suggestion, since it means he lasts longer. It sounds like you are spending a lot of time in there- you could always clean! Or plan an extravagant dinner.
Erma Bombeck is in my son's bathroom.
And I read it. A lot.
Talk away...because I need help too! I'm pretty sure I'm a lazy potty-trainer. Eden will do all #2's in the toilet but 0 #1's, and I'm not at all insistent that she adds the 1 to the 2, because 2 is the big kahuna, however at some point she really ought to do it all in the potty. Apparently I need to stay home more, maintenance the washer and dryer, stock up on toilet paper and just hunker down for a few weeks...it's the only way it's going to get done. Darn this stage of parenting!
PS I think I'll pass on checking for moose recipes on the internet and maybe if I refuse to buy a larger freezer Derek will understand that for practical reasons we cannot possibly commit to using ANY game meat in our diets...do you think it will work?!
I totally love the picture of Sage plunging the toilet- ha! And, I totally hate potty-training. I've done it with two kids now, but I'm still scared to start with #3! IT is life consuming, just by the very nature of it. Yuck. Good luck! At least your girls are so cute! :)
we are SO there right now too, but for some reason I thought Eliza was potty trained awhile ago...? Leyna's in day two of being diaper free, but I'm a mean mom and don't like hanging out on the rim of the tub forever waiting for her to go (Leyna loves the attention and the thought of me reading her stories for hours in the bathroom), so if it doesn't happen within a couple of minutes I just do other stuff within close proximity of the bathroom and wait until she's decided to go or get off. Good luck (don't we all need it)!
Ugh. I almost would prefer to change Avey's diapers for another few years.
I can't believe you took the picture of Eliza's... output in the little potty! I gagged! I hope things are better now. :)
Sage looks pretty adept with the plunger. She could be our on-call plumber.
I think I can wait for this stage with Avey! I have read back through some of your other posts - you continue to make me laugh and relate with your motherhood stories - thanks for bringing an uplift to my day!
