After last month's successful
call for recipes, I turn again to my talented blog audience of 7 people (hi, Mom and sisters) and ask for help on my rug dilemma. This time I have the added excitement of needing to make a decision soon, due to a large amount of procrastination (by me) and a bad return policy (by the store). Which rug do you prefer? The first (red/blue accents) or the second (brown)? (There are a lot of disclaimers I could and probably should make--about the fuzzy pictures, the lumpy couches (that need and will eventually get recovered), the tragic collection on the fireplace mantel, etc. Ignore all those things I just pointed out in detail. Focus on the rugs.)
Rug #1

Rug #2

I'll put a poll up on the sidebar, but feel free to leave a comment if you'd like. I know I'll like it! Maybe the winning comment will get an honorary decorating degree from the Janel Williams Academy of Home Furnishings and Procrastination and Chocolate Chip Cookies.

If you did the red/blue one then you could add throw pillows for our couch in those colors as well.
Hey Janel! I love reading your blog!!! I really love that brown rug - where did you find it? Either is great, but I am partial to the brown.
I like the brownie.
I LOVE the red and blue one. I think it is way more interesting and beautiful. And I agree about the throw pillows. And especially if your couch won't be that way forever, go for the more colorful option. I still think it should be tucked a little farther under the couch too. I think.
Red and blue, the other one is too monochromatic with what you have in the room now. Its cozier looking to me as well. Good luck-I hate decorating!
Brown!
In the photo the red one catches my eye, but I love them both.
red for sure! It's cheerful!
Fun rugs! I like them both, but being me, I'm partial to the more colorful one. You've been to my yellow kitchen, right? Yeah. I like color. :) But, honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with either one. Happy decorating to you!
I really like both rugs BUT I love that the first one has more of a pop of red. Great job on both rugs!
The first one. Like the others have said you can do pillows or recover your couches in a color pulled from the rug. And I do have a certificate from a decorating course but I'd take some cookies.
I would also like to be counted as one of your talented blog audience.
Apparently I'm in the minority. I definitely think you should get orange shag. (I bet Mom & Dad would donate Heather's bedroom carpet to the cause!)
Okay, seriously, I would go for brown. I think it matches your color scheme better than the red and blue one. I think all the colors in the red & blue one are too distracting.
I vote for rug #2! I think #1 is a little distracting. It kind of draws too much attention to itself. Plus, #2 is a little more versatile, so if you wanted to changed the colors in the room later, it would probably work with more colors than #1. Good luck! Decorating totally stresses me out :P
Correctly your article helped me terribly much in my college assignment. Hats high to you enter, will look ahead for more cognate articles without delay as its anecdote of my pick question to read.
I like the brown one
Ahem, I have no decorating skills...so that's my disclaimer. I had a hard enough time buying little rugs for my kitchen (I think I returned three or more...)
I like the brown if the walls are going to stay green and the couch will be neutral. If you are going to do the couch in something red or blue-ish, or paint the walls a neutral color, then the red/blue one would be good. And I like chocolate chip cookies (they can have red or blue or brown chips :)
I like the red/blue one. Partly because I love bolder colors and we have that rug in our dining room (and have great taste :o)) and partly because it will hide red (or blue) punch stains and Cocoa Puffs (I know from experience) much better than the lighter colored rug. Sorry for all the parentheses! But this comment just isn't the same without them. Good luck!
I like the brown one- which one did you keep since the poll is closed? Am I a sister?
diedon'tdoe...
Too hard to decide--probably keep them both :)
