Dear Santa

Dear Santa,

This year could you please bring my neighbors lots of tasty treats? It’s not their fault that I made such delicious caramels that Mark and I had to eat most of them ourselves even though we knew the only ingredients are sugar and butter and variations of sugar and butter (or is butter a variation of cream?). Adding those pecans to part of the caramels made us feel a lot healthier about eating the horrific number we did. But I have to admit our twin tummy aches didn’t allow for much self-deception about how many butter/sugar blobs is too many for one night. (I’m certain the answer is less than 15, although further testing will have to be done to verify how much less.)

And while I’ve got your ear, Santa, I just wanted to give you a heads up about the number of stockings hanging around our house. There are 15. And lest you think it is a plot by my three greedy kids to rake in more loot, I assure you that they merely represent hours of happy work by two artistic children. And lest you think this a plot by two greedy parents to rake in more caramels…well, I’ll have to think about that one. Anyway, please don’t fill the stockings with anything other than old frozen Halloween candy. That’s what I would do if I were you, knowing that my kids would lick a rock if it were covered in sugar. Even freezer burnt sugar.

Sincerely,

Me

Ha ha!!! I have always thought that no candy in the world compares with homemade caramels. I hear pecans and spinach are the healthiest foods on earth, so I think you can go eat some more caramels. (Also, WOW, 15 stockings!! Made out of what? I wish our Halloween candy had lasted past November 3 so Santa could put it in my kids' stockings. It wasn't Jacob eating it, either.)

I am laughing aloud. "my kids would lick a rock if it was covered in sugar" will go down in history, I assure you.

Nice! Just don't do it with English Toffee, like I did. I think that feels worse. :( Maybe Santa can fill up your stockings for all the neighbors too.

You know, it seems that we all like our own homemade treats the best, anyway, and by passing them on to our neighbors, we are imposing our favorites on them, and making them feel like they have to give theirs to us...really, we should all just make our own favorite treats and eat them ourselves, don't you think?

I won't mention that two batches of English Toffee Kim made last night are substantially gone already.

15 artistic, creative stockings? I want to see pictures of those! I've never made caramels, but as I read this I'm eating some someone else made me and they are delicious!

My letter to Santa this year was just a plea to not bring any toys, especially ones with a gazillion tiny pieces. My playroom just can't take anymore. We'll see how good I've been by his response to that! :)

Dear Santa,
Could you please, pretty please, with a cherry (and butter and sugar bomb) on top send me some of Janel's caramels for Christmas? It would be much appreciated, for my love handles need a little love this year.
Sincerely,
Emily Averett

That totally reminds me of Krista eating freezer burned ice cream out of the DDI freezer. Like Auntie like Neicies!
