The (dreaded) sound of silence

I think every mom craves silence and yet, at the same time, knows that silence can be very dangerous. This dichotomy in my home is most apparent with Eliza. Nothing is better than the days when she actually naps, aka silence without fear. On the other hand, when she's awake, I have learned to beware the silence. Because too often I find something like this:

Looks innocent enough, right? But a closer inspection reveals the truth.

On the other hand, if Sage is left alone for a half an hour or so, I often find she has arranged things in interesting ways. Here are just a few such "projects" I snapped pictures of.

Plastic spoons dressed in Polly Pocket clothing
A beanie baby strapped to a ballet slipper
A leopard getting a bite to eat. Of eggs.

Two dogs with puzzle pieces on their tails
A dog clipped into a two-ring binder.
Lily enjoying a neck pillow
The little old carebear that lived in a shoe
A leopard taking a nap
The entire leopard is stuffed in one of Sage's socks (Trust me, this took a while.)
Princess wearing...something
Leopard taking a nap in his ziploc sleeping bag, with a puzzle pillow
A sleepover
Belle's new do
These reptiles are getting a drink from two straws

Sorting, sorting, sorting

How can two kids be so different?

Great post! I've learned it too ... if it is silent and it is not nap time ... here comes trouble ;) Gotta love motherhood :D

Ha ha!!! Eliza is so sneaky. I think she's even gotten into more stuff than Jacob! And those pictures from Sage's "projects" are so hilarious and so unique to her! My favorite is the spoons dressed up. Or maybe Lily with the neck pillow. Or the dog clipped into the binder! She is so funny.

Oh my gosh-- I just about died laughing at the picture of Lily with the neck pillow. Her eyes say it all ("What the heck is going on here?) Sage is too funny!

Your girls are awesome! I couldn't even handle the look on Lily's face in the neck pillow picture! I'm just amazed by the sheer scope and breadth of Sage's "projects"...she's got some serious imagination. And I'm pretty sure Eden and Eliza would be bosom buddies, quite a dynamic duo! (It wouldn't be pretty, maybe it's better we don't live too close!)

Thanks for a good laugh! My favorite is Lily with the neck pillow :)
By the way, I miss hearing you run the garbage disposal though the wall while I am doing dishes. It's too quiet around here.

Ha! I laughed so hard when I saw this post. I'm so glad you've taken pictures of all of Sage's little projects. She'll be glad (or embarrassed?) to have record of them later.

Ouch, my stomach hurts from laughing. I think my favorite was the dog strapped into the two-ring binder. Slightly masochistic wouldn't you say? I also loved Lily's neck pillow as it looks like her face is being squeezed to death

Those pictures are so funny. That poor leapard. He is probably constantly asking himself, "Me, again?" And when are we going to see a picture of this house? I think my last comment expressed a little of my jealousy about your new house but you really killed me in your last post with all that talk about garages and jumping off the couches.
