Old Maid-y

One of my resolutions should be [if I had taken time to officially compose some] to keep a good record of the funny things my kids say and do. Here's the first one of 2008.

Tonight Mark and I took the kids with us to do some returns, and rewarded ourselves after with a stop at Krispy Kreme's [this was not part of any resolution], which was huge hit with the girls.

Later when I was tucking Sage in for bed, I thanked her for helping Eliza be happy at Old Navy. As soon as the store's name was out of my mouth, Sage corrected me and said "Old Maid-y.”

And here's a great picture...definitely one for the desktop. I was pretending to scare and chase Eliza while Sage was using the bathroom. Sage heard the commotion, and called Eliza to her. Eliza went scampering around the corner and hauled it over to her older sister for protection as fast as her skinny little legs would carry her.

May this be the start of a happy year of friendship for my girls.

Okay, I admit it. Shortly after the special moment at the toilet, Eliza quickly became obsessed with Sage's Dora undies. This second picture is almost as good as the first.

"Help, Mom, she's taking my undies!"

PS--Also, I added a bunch of Sage's quotes to the "Best Quotes" entry.

Eliza is crazy! What other 1 1/2 year old steals other kids' underwear? What are you teaching these kids, Janel?

L O L!! I love kids. They're the best! I especially love when they love each other. Very sweet.

I never taught Eliza to love Dora, and that's what the underwear stealing was all about.

One of the most rewarding things I could wish for this year would be for my kids to love each other. I would be a MUCH happier mommy.

Those potty pictures are CLASSIC! They should be framed on the bathroom wall or something. . . and definitely saved to show future dates! :)

We're all going to take this moment to convince ourselves in our minds that I never read or saw this entry. Right? Good. Sorry Janel

It's so funny that you put a picture of Sage on the toilet on your blog. I was considering doing that to announce that Kade's using the potty all the time but I decided not to. I didn't want him getting mad at me for posting that. You'll have to check out what I decided to do instead.
I hope you have a year with loving sisters. I'd be happy with that for just a week.

That is the most hilarious picture I have ever seen. Sage has got that mischievous sparkly smile and Eliza too! Your girls are so hilarious (and I think having Jacob around makes them better friends, because Sage is always defending Eliza's toys and honor from him).

Also: I saw you running with Sage yesterday! I was driving, saw you two from a distance, and thought, "that's the cutest thing I've seen all day!" And then it was you. And I didn't honk because I didn't want to scare you.

Also again: I saw Allie (Alley? Ali? Who the devil knows?) on campus several weeks ago with her two small children. She called you Janet. And she said to say hi to you. I said no because she called you the wrong name.
