Today is my sister, Suzy's, birthday. She was the one that inspired me to be diligent about keeping a list of the funny things Sage says. This year I've already got 9 pages of crazy, silly, and hillarious things Sage has said on a document on the desktop of my computer.
In honor of Suzy, here are a few classic one-liners from Sage.
“Eliza did crunchy-crunchies on my potty treat.” Referring to how Eliza smashed Sage’s mini candy bar (intended for a potty treat). 6.4.07
“There’s the statue of liberty of Joseph Smith.” (About the statue of Joseph Smith in the atrium of the JSB at BYU.) 6.5.07
Sage’s prayer over lunch: “Thank you for Mommy, Daddy, Eliza and Sage. Thank you for the yummy food. Thank you that we can keep Eliza so safe from the bitey bitey ants. In the name..” 6.10.07
I gave Sage a piece of bread in the car and she said “you got crumbs on me, mommy, and that makes me so, so sad.” 6.11.07
“I hope they call me on a missionary!” 8.15.07
“We are happy because we are girls. And we love to eat.” (Sage to Becca) 9.25.07
“When I’m having a sad day, then I’ll use mean voices.” 10.8.07
“If you don’t choose one [marker] for me mommy, you can go lie down on the couch and have a little time out.” 10.8.07
I said, “It’s nap time.” Sage promptly responded, “My tummy hurts, so I want to make a piƱata now.” 10.17.07
I was making some food in the kitchen when Sage asked what I was doing. I told her, and she said, "Good thinking, mommy.” 10.20.07
I found Sage putting our old address labels on Mark’s Nintendo games. When she saw me looking she admonished, "Leave the stickers on those so they can be important.” 10.20.07
"If that diamond ring goes away, Papa’s gonna buy you a shopping cart. If that

I love it! Sage is so funny! Kids say the funniest things, don't they? I always think I can remember it all, but I forget and think, "I should have written that down!" I need to get myself a note book and start writing it all down!
Sage is so hilarious. My favorite one of those is that if you don't choose a marker for her, you can go lie down on the couch and have a little time out. To get out your naughties. I can't wait till Jacob starts saying funny things.
That Sage is a stand-up comedian . . . she just doesn't know it yet! -Mom
I'm glad I've inspired you. Seriously. Sage is going to LOVE this list when she is older. Yay for lists!
This is awesome! I love that "Baby Sage," as she's still referred to around here. :) Writing down the silly things Ella says was one of my reasons for starting a blog. It's much more encouraging to write it down for other people to read and enjoy! I have a list on my sidebar, but I keep old ones in a word document, to keep the blog list shorter and fresher. But I have no where near 9 pages- I think I just have one so far. And I haven't thought to write down the date- you're so smart Janel! Now you've inspired ME too, Suzy. Oh, and Happy Birthday. . . Since you are Janel's sister, I'm sure we'd get along if we ever meet. :)
LOL. Those are pretty good! My favorites are when Cayden says, "Mom, remember when I was a grandpa and had...or Remember when I was a mommy, I did..."
I'm a little scared for the kinds of things that will come out of Caleb's mouth when he's a little older--he already parrots us enough that it makes me constantly re-evaluate how I talk/act/think. I guess that's good for me, though.
I think my favorite of this list is "good thinking, Mommy!" --Although it's almost too hard to pick a favorite. Cute girl.
Janel, you may never read this comment, but if you don't know about the "Junie B. Jones" books, here is your chance. Junie B. is a precocious kindergartner who says some pretty wild stuff, I think you would love it and the girls would eventually understand the genius.
